I sat and looked at the computer screen for 10 minutes trying to figure out how to start this! I’m not a particularly emotional person, so trying to put something like this in to words is really quite difficult.
So, here goes………I love life. Simple as.
Why else would I choose to get up at 4am to muck-out my smelly horses, teach at Prime Mover and then go on to my day job as an Equine Nutritionist, followed by a few hours volunteering as a Community First Responder? I’ll tell you something else, I love making people happy.
As soppy as it sounds, and I”m not a soppy person, I thrive on doing something – no matter how big or how small – that makes someone else smile or go away feeling special.
You won’t often find me in a bad mood and it’s very rare that I moan about anything because I really do believe that life is just too short. I’ve not had it easy, as I’m sure each and every one of you reading this won’t have, but do I dwell on that? Absolutely not.
Don’t let your past determine your future
This is possibly one of my favourite sayings and I’ve tried to put a few points below that might help you become a more positive person and want to leap out of bed in the mornings!
- Focus on the good things – Yes, things are sent to try us, and yes, it will sometimes feel like it couldn’t possibly get any worse. Shake that off, get it into your head that moping about will not solve anything and go and do something that you know is fail-safe to make you feel a little bit more positive. Go for a run, read a book, dance around your house naked – whatever floats your boat!
- Surround yourself with like-minded people – When you’re trying to lift your mood the last thing you need is to be surrounded by mardy, frowny people. If it’s unavoidable, try telling them to turn that frown upside down!
- Don’t dwell on things, don’t hold grudges and most importantly be honest with yourself!
- If you’re still feeling a bit grumpy and there’s no one around to give you a shove – go and do a good deed. It doesn’t have to cost anything, but do something that makes someone else smile. It’s infectious and you’ll be surprised how quickly it helps to improve your attitude.
That’s all for now. Choose to make today a good one
