When Clive turned up for the first class of his 21 Day Transformation earlier this year I knew he’d be sticking around here for a while. We’d barely made it through the warm-up stretches before he’d cracked a joke in front of the whole class at my expense and I thought yep, he’ll fit in well with the other #onetribe members 😉
Since joining the 21DT program in March and going on to complete three Strong & Lean programmes Clive has lost 17kg (37.5lbs), 23cm off his abdomen, 9cm off his hips, 11.5 off his hips, and 7.5cm off his thigh. He’s worked his way up from MetAttack classes to advanced lifting sessions in the Strong & Lean program where he has increased muscle mass as well. This is what Clive has to say…
How have you changed since joining PM?
Physically, I feel fitter and stronger than I’ve ever been. I’m finding it fun putting my body through the physical challenges offered at PM classes. Mentally, I feel emotionally stable, confident and happy. It’s very true that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind.
How has your nutrition changed since joining PM?
Since joining PM, my nutrition has been an 80-20 split; 80% eating clean (PM nutrition) and 20% foods that I’d binge on before I joined PM. Only this time, it’s in moderation.
Describe PM in three words.
Challenging, Rewarding, Family.
What have you learned since being a member at PM?
PM has taught me that my mind is stronger than my body when it comes to exercising in different ways. It has taught me that achieving my fitness goals is a process that takes time, there’s no quick fix. You just have to be consistent and patient to see results over time. That way of thinking has translated into other aspects of my life.
What has your experience on Strong & Lean been like?
My experience with the Strong and Lean program has been amazing. Working out with Paul (on the first S&L), and Danny has improved my strength and technique. They really do put me through my paces, especially Danny. It has helped me develop this ‘never say never’ attitude, not just at PM, but also in everyday life. I’ll definitely keep doing that program for as long as it’s being offered.
What is your favourite PM workout to do?
My favourite type of workout, so far, has been the Strong & Lean program with Paul and Danny. It incorporates exercises that help promote and increase strength, as well as an intense cardio workout. I always need a rest day after a Strong and Lean workout. I’m enjoying every minute of it.
What is one exercise you couldn’t do when you started that you’re awesome at now?
It would have to be weighted squats, whether it be back, front or box squats. Before I joined PM, I was always scared to do squats. Being at PM has changed that for me. The trainers, who are amazing, do teach you proper technique in every exercise that you do. You get people spotting you, as well; someone always has your back at PM.
What are your health and fitness goals for 2017?
My main fitness goal is to continue changing my body composition; reduce body fat percentage to 10% and increase my muscle tone. Also, take part in an obstacle course of some sort or a half marathon or both.
