I’ve been watching Eden, my eight-month-old daughter, a lot these last few days. She’s really starting to come into her own – she’s much more aware of what’s going on around her and she’s starting to chatter and sing, which is awesome!
But what I’ve really noticed is that Eden wants to do everything her older sister Vaeh does. She follows her around, picks up everything Vaeh drops, and tries to stand where Vaeh’s been playing. She even tried diving into the potty after Vaeh had finished!
Vaeh is her mentor, her expert. She’s the person Eden looks up to and wants to be like. This should be how things are throughout our life.
So often that isn’t the case. We try to do it alone, thinking because we’re an ‘adult’ now we should just know how to do stuff. Don’t make that mistake. We all need somebody who’s better than us (in a particular area) to look up to, learn from, and carry us along in their slipstream.
I’ve said it many times: if you’re a butcher, baker, or candlestick maker (or any other profession for that matter!) why would you know how to get in shape?
If you’re a plumber, I’ll call you if I’ve got a leak. So for you to struggle on alone in losing weight or getting in shape is just silly.
Take a lesson from an eight-month-old. Find a mentor and your progress will be much faster, I promise.
At Prime Mover we’ve got a team who can provide that mentorship for you. That’s our aim in life!
