If you’ve spoken to any of the members this week who attended the Yorkshire Dales Retreat you’ve probably heard them gushing about their amazing experience. However, one thing I’ve noticed is that it is actually difficult to find the words to fully express just how incredible it really is. It’s really one of those ‘you just had to be there’ moments.
I had the pleasure of witnessing first-hand how much of an impact the retreat had on member, Amy, and I couldn’t wait to talk to her about her experience after. She without a doubt like the weekend brighter, happier, and carrying a much lighter load than when she arrived. She kindly shares her story below…
If you had to describe your experience on the retreat in 3 words they would be:
Inspiring, motivating, awesome
What were your expectations when you signed up for the retreat (i.e. your reason for wanting to go)? Did it meet those expectations?
I initially decided to go on the retreat to have a few days of me time, to try to have a bit of a reset, to push myself in training and to generally have a bit of a ‘different’ experience.
The retreat went beyond anything I could have expected. I heard amazing things about the Ibiza retreat and thought that it couldn’t possibly be as good as people were saying but it was all true. I had such a fantastic experience and have come back utterly refreshed, focused and happier.
What was your favourite part of the experience?
This is a difficult question to answer because I enjoyed every element of it so much. I guess it was the combination of it all that made it so special but if I have to single out one thing it would be how we bonded as a group and all helped each other throughout the weekend, whether that was cheering for each other in tr
aining sessions, talking to each other after sessions with Tim or just making each other cups of tea and having a laugh.
What was meeting with Tim Tom like?
Tim is magic. I didn’t know what to expect from our session and even now I am not sure I can actually describe it. However, what I do know is that the experience with Tim has left me in such a good place and I feel like I have had a massive weight lifted from me that will never come back.
How did you find our introduction to Kundalini Yoga and meditation?
I had never heard of Kundalini Yoga before and it is like nothing I have ever done before, I found it a little strange at first but Nina is amazing and made us all feel so relaxed that it was easy to let go and enjoy it, by the 3rd day I was totally in the zone and loved every minute of it. I have been practising meditation every day since the retreat, it makes such a difference to my mindset and how I deal with life and it is something I know I am going to continue with.
Did you feel you learned anything or grew in some way as a result of attending the retreat?
I have learnt so much about myself. I am tougher than I think in training, my legs are awesome at sprinting! I thought I would struggle with the Yoga and Meditation but really got into it. The retreat did take me out of my comfort zone and the result of that is that I really feel like I have reset myself and I have been in a different mindset since my return. I am still buzzing from the experience and my energy levels are off the scale.
Did you enjoy the training on the retreat? W
hat was your biggest achievement fitness wise while there?
As you would expect the training was hard but really good fun. KK gave us very intense sessions each day with her usual smiles, especially when it got super hard! Danny brought a really good team work element to all his workouts that helped spur us on and encourage each other. Working out in the countryside really helped too, who wouldn’t be inspired by the amazing views and weather that we had? My personal achievement came at the end of Danny’s workout when we had to carry equipment back to the lodge and I was determined to carry the heaviest thing back, Danny asked me to take the lead and I did it so fast that everyone else had to struggle to keep up with me. I felt like a total warrior!
How did you find the food?
Before I answer this question I think I need explain that I absolutely love eating and I was concerned about what the food would be and the amount that I would be given! I am happy to say that all my worries were completely unfounded. The food was incredible, Scotty is an amazing cook and I think he can turn anything into the most incredibly tasty meal, he showed us all what it means to cook healthy, nutritious and awesome tasting food. We all agreed by the end of the retreat that Scotty needs to write a recipe book, I am sure it would be a best seller!
What would you say to someone who was considering going on a PM retreat?
Stop considering it and get it booked! I honestly can’t recommend it enough, I feel so different following the retreat and I was really sceptical that it would make that much of a difference to me. I would recommend a PM retreat to anyone, all the group went on the retreat for different reasons and I know I can speak on behalf of the group when I say that all those expectations were surpassed.
Now that you’ve signed up for the next retreat, what are you most looking forward to?
October can’t come around quick enough for me! I am not sure if there is one thing that I am looking forward to most, I know that the entire experience will be amazing, Tim will work his magic, Nina will again be the most amazing energy to be around, Danny and KK will create session to beast us, Scotty’s food will be incredible and I just know that the group will bring it again and make it the most amazing experience. This time there will be an added benefit of having sunbathing sessions too!
The Prime Mover Lanzarote Retreat in October is now sold out, but we are looking at dates for future UK retreats so keep a look out for those! This is something you don’t want to miss 🙂
