This super sweet and totally filling breakfast will make the perfect addition to your weekly menu this Spring/Summer! I absolutely love smoothies, but have to reluctantly put them on the back burner during the Winter because I simply can’t cope having something that makes me even more cold. If I drink a smoothie during the Winter months I have to sit on the radiator to level me out – true story!
Now that Summer is creeping up (let’s ignore the fact that it snowed this morning ha!) it’s time to break out the blender and get our smoothie game back on! Today we’re kicking it off with a delicious, naturally sweetened smoothie for you and your loved one to enjoy (this recipe makes two servings).
On The Go Banana-Pear Green Smoothie
2 ripe organic pears
1-2 cups organic baby spinach
¼ – ½ cup egg whites
Loads of ice (the more ice, the thicker it’ll get!)
Peel and add the bananas to the bottom of the blender.
Slice the pears into 3-4 large pieces, cutting away from the core & seeds in the centre.
Wash and chop off the ends of the cucumber and add in 2-3 chunks to the blender.
Wash and add spinach to the top.
Blend on pulse to chop everything. If you have a large enough blender, add the ice before you begin. If it is already filled, blend until smooth and then add the ice.
Blend everything to the consistency of your choice. We like our smoothies with a bit of texture, not smooth enough to become juice.
Pour in a glass and serve 🙂
